Fundacion INVAP + BIDCHALLENGE
In the Argentinean Patagonia, each change of season brings with it a host of different challenges. During the summer, high temperatures, light rains and winds increase the risk of wildfires that in turn endanger flora, fauna, and even human lives. In winter, low temperatures necessitate the need to heat houses, yet many sectors of the population lack efficient heating systems.
OUR TAKE
BIOENERGÍA ANDINA (Andean Bioenergy) is a project by Fundación INVAP created to offer an integral solution to two issues simultaneously. The project consists of a residuary collecting system of home and forest trimmings, which decreases the risk of accidental wildfires in the summer. The stockpile of wood is then distributed in the colder months to heat homes through efficient, safe heaters (designed and built by the program itself).
As the project would only be viable if local communities actively got involved, we were tasked to work on a simple and striking communication campaign that explained how the system worked, and that would enlist real grassroots support and adoption.
THE RESULT
We set out to clearly and compellingly show how different people and groups could get involved to make a meaningful impact. Along with a main video, we developed six audiovisual pieces that present the logistics and design of the system, detailing its more technical aspects.
To ensure that the message was crystal clear, we used an explanatory voiceover too. On top of that, we filmed models with rigid characters that were linked through the movement of the camera. This resulted in an aesthetic similar to that of snapshots of candid, everyday scenes that clearly show a chain of actions. The entire campaign was communicated through Fundación INVAP’s social media platforms so as to raise awareness of the project in different places and to various groups of people, along with a website that housed further information.
